On Wednesday, August 5, members from the Aquidneck and South County houses took a delightful 90 minute Lighthouse Cruise aboard the 400 passenger, state-of-the-art, high speed catamaran Millennium, out of Quonset.

Millennium is the vessel that normally runs the high speed ferry service to Martha’s Vineyard during the summer months. It has three viewing levels, outside sundeck seating, air-conditioned interior seating and a full-service bar/galley.

It was a beautiful day and the seas were calm as we comfortably covered 60 miles of Rhode Island shoreline. The well narrated cruise (even we locals learned some new facts!) took us past ten lighthouses, breathtaking waterfront scenery, mansions and million dollar homes and a complete tour of Newport Harbor.

For all of this we paid a group rate of $20.00 per person. If you have out-of-state guests, this is a great way show them Rhode Island in a nutshell!
