Senior Care at Homes

The thought of being literally torn out of their comfortable homes and moved into Assisted Living in  an unfamiliar, restricted environment, populated by unknown and, occasionally, incompatible residents, is a trauma that many seniors approach with great trepidation. They want to continue to live in their own homes as long as possible, but the problems of home ownership and management can become overwhelming.

This is a national problem, and many small, local groups like Southern Rhode Island at Home are coming forward to offer solutions.  SRI at Home comprises an organization of seniors that offers its members, in addition to a social program, two kinds of support, Volunteer and Referred:

  • As volunteers, members within the group, provide to other members, services such as transportation, shopping, minor repairs, reading and visitation.
  • Under referrals, SRI at Home supplies a list of screened suppliers of services such as garden and lawn care, snow removal, household repairs, housecleaning and at-home non-medical personal care, all for reasonable fees.
