Dan and his daugh­ter Ash­ley aboard the Nefertiti

In August Dan and Empie went sail­ing with some of their fam­ily, includ­ing two Nor­we­gian cousins.

They picked Nefer­titi (named after an ancient Egypt­ian Queen) a 1962 Ted Hood designed and raced 12 metre sail boat. She was fast but not quite as fast as Weath­erly who even­tu­ally defended the America’s Cup in 1962.

Below is Dan at the wheel; on the right he is seen cel­e­brat­ing two hours at the helm – still smil­ing.
